I can’t recall anything in my lifetime that has been as potent in bringing the world to almost a complete standstill as the Coronavirus (a.k.a. COVID-19). The impact of this virus ranges from mild to severe – with in places, thousands of lives having perished/are perishing overnight!

In collaboration with specialist advisors, world leaders have taken unprecedented action to, at best, limit the spread of the deadly virus, while medical experts, world-wide, huddle together around microscopes, studying the nature of the virus in order to develop a life-saving vaccine.

Many loved ones have fallen victim to this faceless, COVID-19 threat. Large corporations, companies, and small businesses are numbered among the casualties. Jobs have been lost. Tourism is at a standstill. Social distancing imposed. National economies have been brought to their lowest-ever level!

Has anything as horrendous as this ever happened before? Can the world’s mantra, ‘stay home, stay safe’, be trusted to preserve lives? Are there lessons that can be learned? These are but a few questions being pondered by many

Not long after the outbreak of COVID-19, I found myself making a mental comparison of this virus with another virus – a virus known only by some of the world’s populous. The virus I have in mind is ‘the’ virus of all viruses – the deadliest of all! 

While COVID-19 targets a few, and in most cases can be cured through medical intervention, this other virus targets everyone, and cannot be cured through human intervention – everyone is infected, and everyone dies! The virus I am referring to is the ‘Sin-virus’! The Bible says, “For all have sinned… [and] …the penalty of sin is death” (Romans 3:23, 6:23a).

However, concerning the Sin-virus, Scripture goes on to say, “… but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus” (Romans 6:23b). This is the good news of all time – for everyone! The cure for the deadliest of all viruses is Jesus Christ (through His death on the cross). And, the cure is free! Cures of every known disease must be ingested to bring about healing. In like manner, Jesus must be ingested into one’s mind and heart to be cured of the Sin-virus.

The Sin-virus is deadlier than COVID-19. Do you have the cure? Do you have Jesus? He came to save you, me, and others.
