The ‘Dancing On Water’ article, “A Signed Blank Cheque”, was emailed to subscribers on the 10th of March. It’s not often I receive feedback from those who receive the articles… that’s quite normal and is very much OK with me. However, at times I receive a comment or two that minister to me and are worth sharing with you. May the following two comments touch your hearts…
Tony said: Hey Bill – Such good sound wisdom here mate. A signed blank cheque for today, not for tomorrow but for everything I need for today, then another one tomorrow, and the day after, and the day after …. God’s treasury is endless and I was pondering how much we limit ourselves by saying to Him … hmmm, I think You only have a certain amount for me so I will fill in the amount for You. The end result is we rob ourselves of the endless treasury that is found and rooted in Him.
In finance circles, particularly when my wife and I were in India, it was not uncommon to give people post-dated cheques for things like rent. So, part of my lease I would give the landlord 12 post-dated cheques dated the first of each month for the following 12 months. That was his security that he had the authority to go to the bank and remove funds from my account (assuming I had the money). I sense that some days we give God a post-dated cheque by saying “I know You are leading me in this and I have conviction but how about we date this cheque next year when my circumstances are better!”
Or worse still, we give out cheques when we have no money in the bank – a dishonoured cheque or a bounced cheque. I feel we do that regularly with God when we write cheques that rely on our resources, and our plans, out of a very limited treasury that inevitably gets overdrawn resulting in a dishonoured cheque.
I feel the same way that by doing so with God we live a ‘dishonouring life’ that leads to depression, anxiety and despair as it is limited by our own strength and resources. A signed blank cheque to God?… I’m writing one now for today!
Melanie said:Today’s article caught my attention as I would like to give to God a blank cheque… one that He can complete, according to my needs. I don’t want to ask God for too much… but for His will to be done in my life. I know deep inside my Heavenly Father knows what I need. I don’t need Him to pay my bills and load my pantry with food. What I need is for Him to fill my spirit with strength and stock my soul with faith and trust in Him.
Friends, please accept my sincere thanks for subscribing to DOW. I appreciate you and value every comment I receive from you. May we remain open to sharing and learning from the Holy Spirit through each other.
Best wishes
