Why is He coming back?

Patiently I await the return of Christ. I don’t need to know the exact time of His return as my salvation-responsibility is to maintain a personal readiness and watchfulness for His coming. That’s why can I say with confidence and calmness… “In Your time, come Lord Jesus!”

‘Why is Jesus coming back’ is reasonable question to ask. There’s much more the Lord would like to reveal to us if we are serious enough in our investigations of His truths, and by asking questions through prayer. My investigations of Scripture and prayer revealed to me the following five reasons why Jesus is coming back:

Reason 1: To collect us … In the Book of John, Jesus said to His disciples… “There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am“ (14:2,3). What do you think? Is this a good-enough reason for His coming back?

Reason 2: To convert Jews … Jews are still God’s chosen people. God hates divorce and hasn’t divorced Israel, and never will. He has a plan for the Jewish people. There’s only one thing that is needed for a Jew to become a believer and that is to know that Jesus is alive! That’s what happened to Saul on the road to Damascus… He encountered Jesus and was converted! (Acts 9:3-5.)

Reason 3: To conquer His enemies … We are told in the Bible that at the end of history, for a short time, the world will be in the control of three people – an unholy trinity – a substitute for the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus will fight and conquer them once and for all. The Book of Revelation says… “Then the devil, who had deceived them, was thrown into the fiery lake of burning sulphur, joining the beast and the false prophet. There they will be tormented day and night forever and ever” (20:10).

Reason 4: To judge the world … Jesus will be the stand-alone judge of the High Court of Heaven, administering justice over the human race. Having experienced human life at every level of pain and suffering qualifies Jesus to do so.  He will judge Pontius Pilate, Mohammed, Buddha, Confucius, Adolf Hitler… you, and me! Second Corinthians says, “For we must all stand before Christ to be judged. We will each receive whatever we deserve for the good or evil we have done in this earthly body” (5:10).

Reason 5: To rule the world … The Book of Revelation says that after Jesus conquers His enemies and cleanses the world, He will reign on earth to show what the world would be like with Him in charge. Jesus will form a government. That’s where we come into the picture… We will reign with Him! The Book of Revelation says, “Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. For them the second death holds no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him a thousand years” (20:6). Yes, you read correctly…We will reign with Jesus!

Friends, all this defies our imagination. The Lord is coming back to restore the Kingdom to Israel and to rule the nations and to fulfil all the promises God made for this world. It was Adolf Hitler’s vision that the Third Reich (empire) would last 1,000 years… It lasted 12! Jesus will take over the nations as King. He will introduce Theocratic rule. No more elections, followed by broken promises, and no more lockdowns! I’m excited and ready about the return of Jesus. Are you?

Best wishes
