The Book of Revelation, Chapters 21 and 22, give a more than adequate description of Heaven for us. There’s no need for anyone to guess or speculate about Heaven. While exiled on the island of Patmos, the advanced in age, Apostle John was directed by Jesus to record what he was about to see and hear.

What John saw and heard overwhelmed him so much that at times he needed to be reminded to keep writing! In Chapter 21, verses 1-7, John recorded… Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the old heaven and the old earth had disappeared. And the sea was also gone. And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven like a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, “Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.” And the one sitting on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new!” And then he said to me, “Write this down, for what I tell you is trustworthy and true.” And he also said, “It is finished! I am the Alpha and the Omega—the Beginning and the End. To all who are thirsty I will give freely from the springs of the water of life. All who are victorious will inherit all these blessings, and I will be their God, and they will be my children”
John continued…I saw no temple in the city, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. And the city has no need of sun or moon, for the glory of God illuminates the city, and the Lamb is its light. The nations will walk in its light, and the kings of the world will enter the city in all their glory. Its gates will never be closed at the end of day because there is no night there. And all the nations will bring their glory and honour into the city. Nothing evil will be allowed to enter, nor anyone who practices shameful idolatry and dishonesty—but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life” (21:22-27).
Indeed, Scripture has much to say about Heaven. Here are fourteen features worth noting: 1. No Sex -Marriage does not survive the grave, 2. No Suffering, 3. No Separation – No more good-byes, 4. No Sorrow, 5. No Shadows – Our Heavenly Father and Jesus will be our light, 6. No Sanctuaries, and 7. No Sin – Heaven will be a ‘temptation-free’ zone! In addition, there will be: 1. Rest of mind and heart from doing that which brings satisfaction, joy and delight, 2. Reward for our service to God on earth, 3. Responsibility – We’ll reign with Christ in the care of the Universe! (Rev. 22:5), 4. Revelation – We’ll know everything we would like to know about everyone and everything, 5. Righteousness – Everyone will think and do what is right, 6. Rejoicing will be the way of life, and 7. Recognition – We will recognise everyone!
Friends, the more I think about Heaven, the less I am able to think of this world. The horrors of life that presently surround me cannot disturb the peace of God within because I hold firmly to His promise of Heaven.
