The Kingdom – 4

The world in which we live is the kingdom of Satan. Most nations of the world are governed by democratic rule and are served by politicians who’ve been elected by the people. Democratic rulers are periodically installed and removed at election times by the people.

Regardless of human sentiment, the Kingdom of God is coming and is restricted to loyal, obedient believers. In the not-too-distant future the Kingdom of God will be completely and permanently operational in the new world that God is creating.

The main thrust of Jesus’ public ministry was His call to every person to “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously…” (Matt. 6:33). Friends, the Kingdom of God is where we need to be if we desire incorruptibility and immortality – a life of meaning, purpose, peace and holiness – a sinless domain where provision, protection, satisfaction, contentment, fulfilment, and much more is experienced.

During His marathon ‘sermon on the mount’, Jesus taught extensively about the Kingdom of God. It was at that time Jesus taught His disciples to pray… “Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven…” (Matt. 6:9-10).

Whenever we petition the Father “May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven” we testify that the world in which we live is not functioning in accordance to God’s will. In our world, God’s will is not considered progressive-enough to take today’s ‘modern thinkers’ to where they want to go (I wonder, will they be satisfied when they get to where they want to go?). Our world openly mocks, ridicules and blasphemes God.

For those who are proud subjects of this world, it doesn’t matter what God thinks – life is being driven by what individuals think and want. “The world is our kingdom”, they say with pride and arrogance, and,  “self is the reigning and ruling monarch of our lives.” At least that’s what many blindly think. In truth, Satan is the ruling monarch of this fallen world… a world of darkness, deception, disease, division, and death. The ‘unsaved’ of this world are his blind prisoner-subjects! Satan quietly calls the shots and they carry out his diabolical schemes.

Well, of which kingdom are you a subject? Through natural birth we were sin-enslaved subjects of the kingdom of Satan but through repentance and belief in Christ Jesus we’ve been born again! We’ve been liberated from Satan’s kingdom and made free-subjects of the Kingdom of God. Jesus is the ruling Monarch of the Kingdom of God and He commands that we should, above all elseKEEP-ON seeking His Kingdom and KEEP-ON living righteously (and He will KEEP-ON giving us everything we need).

Friends, King Jesus is Ruler and we are His subjects. Our devotion is to obey!

Best wishes
Bill
