I am glad to introduce to you my dear Christian brother of twenty-three years, Nick Truscott.
He describes himself as a full-time husband, father, grandfather, gardener, livestock keeper, eco enthusiast, part-time sous chef, cleaner, and washer upper. He was born in England in 1958, the youngest of six children.
Nick grew up in a nominally Christian home and was baptised as an infant. He and his wife, Jane, started dating when they were quite young – Jane was 12 and Nick was 14. Nick says, “Jane was the sister of one of my best friends at school.”
As Nick was 16 when he joined the British Navy, he and Jane dated/courted mainly long distance by snail mail (no email or phones back then) and unusually they became engaged on a British warship sailing up the English Channel. They eventually married at St Peter’s Church, Canterbury in 1981 and have been married for 43 years. They have been blessed with three children and three grandchildren.
Their married life has been quite challenging with more than its normal share of ups and downs and Nick credits Jane as having the courage, strength, determination and patience to be the mainstay of their marriage and family.
Nick and Jane attended various Methodist churches when in the UK, but outside of the UK they attended Maadi Community Church in Cairo, Egypt, and Anglican churches when they lived in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Nick has been battling against brain cancer since April 2022. Although the prognosis is uncertain and the statistics are not good, Nick celebrates each new day the Lord gifts to him. His passion in life is to live as an authentic believer in Jesus Christ, serving Him with the gifts and experiences given to him by the Holy Spirit.
Nick is a treasured member of the ‘Dancing on Water’ team serving as one of two website engineers and as a Guest Author. He shares a particular characteristic with me (Bill) in that he really enjoys starting each new day with a mean brew of coffee.
