The latest report of the ongoing humanitarian aid effort by the Ukraine-Minska Convoy Mission team into warn-torn Ukraine was received earlier this week.
Paul reports, “It’s good to do good in the South!”
Several days ago, for the seventh time, we conveyed aid to Ukraine. This time we followed a shorter route as our destination was the capital, Lviv.
For this trip we borrowed five vehicles. We loaded 5 tons of essential goods, comprising of food, medical and hygiene products, adult and children’s diapers, shoes, cookers and cartridges.
And as usual, we were challenged with vehicle issues. One of the vans, for legal reasons, was not permitted to cross the Ukrainian border. We managed to unload this vehicle and repack the other four with the additional goods. So, four vehicles set off to complete the mission.
After reaching Lviv, we went to the local post office where we unloaded three vehicles. We packed the goods on pallets and sent them to three friendly churches:
- Pershotravensk -This church sponsors internally displaced persons and
distributes aid to small villages and towns near the frontline, e.g., Wielka Novosilka, and Bakhmut, - Kryvyi Rih – This church supports the local community of internally displaced persons, and
- Mykolaiv – This church supports internally displaced persons and distributes aid to small villages and towns in the Kherson region.
We unloaded the fourth vehicle at the Church of Jesus Christ in Lviv. We brought, among other products, over 120 packages of food and hygiene products. We distributed these packages together at meetings that were organised by the church for refugees from eastern Ukraine.
For this mission, the value of the 5 tons of aid we were able to convey was approximately US$24,000. To date, the overall value of aid we have been able to convey to Ukraine is estimated at US$140,000. On behalf of the convoy team-members, “Thank you for your kind and generous support.” Paul
