“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because
it is the power of God that brings
salvation to everyone who believes”
Romans 1:16.
Often, the thought of talking about our faith and the Good News with people who don’t know Jesus can be intimidating. We worry what they might think or if they’ll judge us or see us in a different way. We want to be liked by others, so sharing something that may be disagreed with or even looked down on doesn’t usually come naturally.
But the Bible says in 2 Timothy 1:7-8, “for the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. So, do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord.”
We are called not to be ashamed of the gospel, but to be confident in our faith, in talking about our Saviour who has done so much for us; to share the incredible gift of salvation that we have been given and which is free to anyone who is willing to accept it.
A prayer I have been praying—and one I hope you might pray, too—is that God will continue to help me be willing and excited to talk about Jesus. Luke 12:11-12 tells us, “for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say.”
We don’t need to be fearful, or embarrassed, or timid, because the Lord will equip us with the words to say, and the strength we need to help us to be bold.
