God’s Timing

How hard is it to wait on something?

One of the biggest challenges men face, including myself, is the ability to wait on the Lord for His perfect timing. We want things done in our time and in our own way, but it’s the opposite with God.

The world tells us everything that we could ever want is at our fingertips and we deserve everything we could ever want. Our natural tendency is to rebel against waiting and to try and find other ways to get what we want. We push forward, move forward, and often forget God exists along the way. If you are at all like me, I DESPISE waiting! Many times, I find myself with so many questions in my head.  One of the biggest is:  God, can You do it now please?

I do forget that waiting is used to test my faith. Waiting can bring out our impatience, worry, discouragement, and lack of trust in God. God uses times of waiting to allow us to demonstrate our obedience and faith. He calls us to wait patiently on Him while He prepares us for the next step.  Isaiah says “Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint” (40:30 – 31).

In fact, God uses waiting times as preparation, consolidation and maturing in order to show His faithfulness. Ecclesiastes says: He has made everything beautiful in its time” (3:11).

Throughout the Bible, you see countless examples of God’s faithfulness and love displayed for those who believe in Him. Rather than taking matters into our hands, we should wait patiently for God to answer.
