You are still God

A song of ascent:I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth” (Ps. 121:1).

The Songs of Ascent (Psalms 120-134) serve as powerful examples of how we can express our worship and love for God through the power of song (gotquestions.org). The pilgrims ascending to Jerusalem for their yearly festivals didn’t know what was before them but they chose to worship as they trusted in God.

When all foundations have been shaken
When I’m left standing in the dark
And all I feel is my heart breaking
You still reign and You’re still God

And when it feels all hope has faded
The heavy questions hit so hard
And though my soul may feel forsaken
You still reign and You’re still God

Chorus:
Though I can’t see what’s before me
I know that I can trust Your heart
And this one truth will be my story
You still reign and You’re still God

I will declare that You are with me
Though voices whisper that You’re not
You’ll never leave me nor forsake me
‘Cause You still reign and You’re still God

Chorus:
Though I can’t see what’s before me
I know that I can trust Your heart
And this one truth will be my story
You still reign and You’re still God (Rpt)

~ Instrumental ~

When my enemies surround me
I’ll trust the victory of Your cross
And fix my eyes upon You, Jesus
For You are God and I am not

You are good and You are faithful
As You have been from the start
You work in all things for Your glory
‘Cos You still reign and You’re still God

Chorus:

Though I can’t see what’s before me
I know that I can trust Your heart
And this one truth will be my story
You still reign and You’re still God (Rpt)

We can find great solace in the lyrics of this beautiful song by Philippa Hanna. The words resonate deeply for me – I wonder if they do for you as well? The good news is that … no matter what we are going through … He is still God and He still reigns. I invite you to have a listen >
