“So, let us not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we do not give up” (Gal 6:9 NLT).
Continuing on from our previous article, ‘When Goods Increase’, I think it is fitting to follow up with this article titled ‘3H’. Understanding this 3H will help us as we share with people on how goods increase. This is what we are already anticipating.
Beloved, as you seek relationship and fellowship with others, you will always meet with these 3 categories of people – 3H – they are:
- People who want what is in your Head.
- People who want what is in your Hand.
- People who want what is in your Heart.
God, the Author of relationships in the Garden of Eden, established it with the intention of helping. No assignment or purpose can be fulfilled in isolation. Relationship is therefore established for the purpose of helping one another to fulfil our God-given assignments.
When God brings people into your life, it is to help promote His purpose in both your lives. God will not bring people into your life who will not add value to you, so you must be quick to discern why this person is in your life. This is so no man will take advantage of your good, kind heart. Let’s therefore look in detail at these 3H.
1. The Head: The head which figuratively represents the mind, stands for the place of wisdom, intellect, and knowledge. Friends, some people in your life have only come because of what you know – in other words, your head knowledge. If you are mentally and intellectually well-balanced, they stay with you to advance their own course in life. When they feel they know enough or know more than you do, they leave your life. Should you no longer have more knowledge to share, they fly as a bird to their nest. However, they will remain your friend as long as you advance in what you are doing, and they can learn how to improve their own lives.
2. The Hand: The hand stands for economic empowerment, that is, finance. They have come into your life to see what they can get and not what they can give. This second category is only interested in what you can give them. They don’t care how much you know, but how much you can give them every time they are in need. They are only interested in what you have in your hand. The day you stop giving is the day they stop connecting.
3. The Heart: The heart talks about who you really are as a person. It talks about the place of love in your heart. These types of people have truly come to seek and know the real you. They really want to know what you stand for, your purpose and vison in life; and possibly to help you realise your God-given assignment. Many times, this kind of person believes that it’s only in helping you fulfil your assignment/purpose that theirs is fulfilled as well.
They want to share your pain and challenges and if possible, help in interpreting your dreams and run with your vison, or at least help you to become who God wants you to be. This kind of person has come to stay with you. This I think was the prayer of Moses to the tribe of Reuben and Judah: “May Reuben live and not die: Do not let his men be few.” About Judah he said, “O Lord, hear the voice of Judah, and bring him to his people…” (Deut. 33:6-7 NLV)
Please note, they might not be as rich as you are… but they love who you are as a person so much that they make themselves available to you. These types of people prefer friendship before purpose and not the other way round. They simply love you and know you love them in return.
Friends, the decision is now yours to discern the right kind of people you allow into your life; those with whom you can share your time and resources. The Bible recommends that we share and do good to everyone, especially to God’s people… “So, let us not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we do not give up. Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone – especially to those in the family of faith.” (Gal. 6:9-10 NLT).
Peace: shalom, shalom!
