There are so many verses in the Bible that speak of the goodness of God.
Here are only three, but there are so many more!
“I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living” (Psalm 27:13).
“Hear me, O Lord, for Your lovingkindness is good; turn to me according to the multitude of Your tender mercies” (Psalm 69:16).
“Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever”
(1 Chronicles 16:34).
David Jeremiah says: “God is good. But what does that mean—that God is good? The more I studied this word in the Bible, the more one central concept seemed to jump out: God’s goodness conveys His generosity. His goodness means far more than His generosity, but it certainly includes His infinitely generous attitude toward us. By nature, He longs to bring joy and blessing to all His creatures.”
As you look back over your life, can you see where God has been so good to you? There are times in my life where God has just swooped in and taken over a situation that I had no control over. A situation that could have turned out very badly, but in His goodness, He chose to bless me and bring good out of it. I am so thankful that HE is always watching over us.
“Indeed, He who watches over Israel never slumbers or sleeps. The Lord Himself watches over you! The Lord stands beside you as your protective shade” (Psalm 121:4-5).
Ce Ce Winans expresses it so powerfully through this song that was written by Bethel Music. ‘Your goodness is running after; it’s running after me’. May it be your prayer of gratitude today!
