Satellites play a critical role in providing accurate and reliable global positioning. Users of Global Positioning Systems (GPS) can determine their exact location and track their movements with precision, without operators having a keen sense of direction. While they are useful in aiding physical travel, the capability of Sat-Nav systems is limited in directing you to where you choose to go. They are not able to advise you as to where, why, when, and how you should go.
Friends, without appropriate guidance, life is a ‘hit-and-miss,’ futile journey of meaningless wanderings, bumping here and there into this and that. While satellite technology offers reliable guidance for flesh travel, Divine Navigation (Div-Nav) offers reliable guidance for spiritual + flesh travel (living a God-honouring life with right morals and values, right relationships, and celebrating meaning and purpose).
Christians are privileged travellers! God promises His followers, faithful and reliable guidance for today and every tomorrow. Isaiah quotes God as saying, “I will lead blind Israel [you] down a new path, guiding them [you] along an unfamiliar way. I will make the darkness bright before them [you], And smooth out the road ahead of them [you]. Yes, I will indeed do these things; I will not forsake them [you]” (42:16).
Believers do not have to suffer as victims of blind chance or be limited by the best of human know-how to discern the right way forward for their lives. Through Div-Nav you can know how to live in the centre and safety of God’s will, enjoying a most satisfying life. Through the prophet Jeremiah, God said to His people,“For I know the plans I have for you…they are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope” (29:11). (cf. Rom. 8:28-29; 12:2.)
God has a perfect plan for you! Scripture and answered prayers are all you need to keep you on track to experience God’s good, pleasing, and perfect plan (Rom. 12:2).
Div-Nav Provides
1. Divine Guidance… “The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand” (Ps. 37:23-24). “When people do not accept divine guidance, they run wild. But whoever obeys the law is joyful” (Prov. 29:18).
2. Divine Wisdom… “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and He will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking” (Jam. 1:5; c.f. Eph. 5:17).
3. Righteous Desires… “For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him” (Phil. 2:13). “Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you your heart’s desires” (Ps. 37:4). NOTE: Your ‘natural’ self is full of wrong desires!
4. Divine Warning… Believers are blessed with a built-in warning device, called ‘the peace of Christ.’ Whenever you sense that His peace is not ruling in your life you need to stop and look at where and how you have drifted from His will (Col. 3:15a).
Note: The word “rule” comes from a Greek word that refers to the decision of a judge in an athletic event. God’s peace is the deciding factor of knowing whether you are in or out of His will. Sensing the loss of God’s peace is not to condemn you but to stop you from continuing in error that you may take corrective action before it is too late.
Five Div-Nav steps to ‘knowing’ God’s will for your life…
1. Present your ‘body’ to the Lord… God must be positioned and honoured as #1 in every area of your life. You do this through the willing surrender, and re-surrender, of your life to living for Him and serving Him. You must gift your life completely to Him before He will guide you in the discovery of His perfect will for your life (Rom. 12:1).
It is worth remembering that living sacrifices have a tendency of crawling off the altar of sacrifice whenever things in life get too hot (persecution for your faith, etc.).
2. Be an Investigator of God’s Word… God’s general will for living a righteous life is revealed in the Bible. Essential truths need to be discovered and acted upon. In his address to God, David said, “Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path” (Ps. 119:105). NOTE: In our ‘darkened’ world, God’s word enables us to see!
3. Obey God’s counsel… Our obedience is a test of our love for God and proves our desire to follow His will for our lives. It is important to act on what the Holy Spirit reveals to you. God will not reveal the ‘next step’ until you obey what He has already revealed! John says in his first letter, “And we will receive from Him [God] whatever we ask because we obey Him and do the things that please Him” (1 Jn. 3:22).
4. Counsel with mature Believers… It is wise to consult with mature Christians who know you. Because of their knowledge of God’s word and their sensitivity to the Holy Spirit’s voice their counsel is invaluable. Although you must not look to them to make your decisions, their advice can be timely and helpful. Proverbs says, “Without wise leadership, a nation falls; there is safety in having many advisers” (11:14).
5. Pray constantly… Intimate communion with God results through prayer. As you pray, much will be revealed to you. You must be patient, however, allowing God to reveal His will for you. His perfect will involves His perfect timing! Jesus says, “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened” (Matt. 7:7-8; c.f. Jam. 1:5). Our Heavenly Dad likes persistent pray-ers!
Friends, Div-Nav provides Believers with cost-free, perfect, ‘all weather’ navigation through every dark, daunting challenge of life… ensuring that they experience God’s satisfying promises. Divine Navigation is the only safe and sure way to Heaven’s Gate.
