In this season of Advent when we prepare for the celebration of the birth of our Saviour Jesus Christ, it is timely to focus on the beauty and love that came down at Christmas. It is this love that is like no other – no other because it is purely Divine.

Christina Rossetti’s poem published in 1885 expresses this love so beautifully.

Love came down at Christmas,
Love all lovely, Love Divine,
Love was born at Christmas,
Star and Angels gave the sign.

Worship we the Godhead,
Love Incarnate, Love Divine,
Worship we our Jesus,
But wherewith for sacred sign?

Love shall be our token,
Love be yours and love be mine,
Love to God and all men,
Love for plea and gift and sign.

“This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins” (1 John 4:9-10).

.May you know in your heart of hearts this Christmas the pure, divine, all-encompassing love and peace of God so that you can say, truly,
