Your Change Is Here: Part II

“Will the dead live again? All my days are a struggle; I will wait until my change comes” (Job 14:14 NCV)

Change happens when we intentionally change the way we do certain things in life. Lifestyles or habits fully developed over the years can make or mar our lives. I hereby recommend the following areas you can work on to actualize a positive change:

1. Change the language you speak
“Wise words satisfy like a good meal; the right words bring satisfaction. The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences” (Prov. 18:20-21 NLT). If you are consistently having a bad day at your workplace, judge the quality of language you speak. Is this helping or hindering your relationships?

2. Change how you think
“For as he thinks in his heart, so is he…” Prov. 23:7 NKJV). The way you think is going to affect so many things about yourself. It will affect your self-image and how people see you. Think well of yourself. You can’t have a big God and think small. Let your thinking reflect the size and goodness of your God. Stop ‘slave mentality’ thinking and think like your Heavenly Father. He can do above what you ask or think: “God is able to do much more than we ask or think through His power working in us” (Eph. 3:20).

3. Change the source of your hearing
“So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ” (Rom. 10:17). If what you are hearing is not edifying, change what you are listening to. You cannot be greater than your source of information, and information often determines your inspiration in this life. Move away from ungodly conversations. Any conversation that does not build your faith is not worth your attention.

4. Change the way you feel
“Do not be shaped by this world; instead, be changed within by a new way of thinking. Then you will be able to decide what God wants for you; you will know what is good and pleasing to him and what is perfect”(Rom.12:2 NCV).

Conform your thinking to the Word of God and you will enjoy the right feelings. Your feelings will not change the Word of God, but acting upon the Word of God will change your feelings. Feelings come and feelings go, but the Word of God abides forever! So, act upon the facts of Scripture and be emotionally stable in all your ways.

5. Change the pictures you see

When you wake up in the morning and you look into the mirror, who do you see? When you retire to bed at night, who do you see? Do you see yourself going somewhere to succeed, or do you see yourself as down and out, without hope in this world? Who do you see? A failure or a success? Who do you see? A poverty-stricken person or a prosperous man? Who do you see? A beggar or a lender? Who do you see? I see a successful minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Yes, that is what I see! I see a great servant of God. I see myself as a child of the Most High God!

Is it time for a change in your life… changing the way you speak, think, hear, feel, and see? I pray the Lord will help you in whatever change that needs to be made in your life. He is the Potter, and we are the clay.
