Celebrating Weakness

In our humanness, we don’t always like to admit to being weak, but God’s way is counter-cultural and we find that when we are weak, He gives us the strength we need to face every circumstance.

Marian helps us to not only grasp this truth, but action it as a lifestyle. Ed.

My strength is made perfect in weakness. When you are weak, I am strong. So, rejoice in your weakness to get things right, to stay on track.

“But he answered me, ‘My grace is always more than enough for you, and my power finds its full expression through your weakness.’ So, I will celebrate my weaknesses, for when I’m weak I sense more deeply the mighty power of Christ living in me.”
(2 Corinthians 12:9 TPT)

When you see this truth of rejoicing in your weakness, you dethrone self as the one who achieves it all. You have been taught to strive, to achieve and yes, to do your best; and that is okay to do your best, but when you believe it is all your doing, the pressure builds and builds to keep doing, keep achieving. When you see it is Me in you that enables you, that directs you, that encourages you, that strengthens you, the pressure will come off you.

Put your gaze on Me.

“My old identity has been co-crucified with Christ and no longer lives. And now the essence of this new life is no longer mine, for the Anointed One lives His life through me—we live in union as one! My new life is empowered by the faith of the Son of God who loves me so much that He gave himself for me, dispensing his life into mine!”
(Galatians 2:20 TPT)

You think it all depends on you, but it does not. If you will bring down the idol of the self-made man/woman and rejoice in the fact that it is Me in you, then you will reach new heights.

Surely, I do require you to do your part in learning, in practising, in doing your best in every situation, but ultimately it is My strength within you, My life within you, that brings you success.

Most do not realize this truth, don’t recognize My presence, but if you belong to Me, if you have given Me your life, then I require you to see and know and acknowledge it is My strength within you that enables you to do all things. Without Me you can do nothing.

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” (Emphasis mine)
(John 15:5 NIV)

[The light bulb image above represents both our fragility and weakness but held in the hands of Almighty God and relying on His strength, we can do all things. Additionally, this quote from ‘The Word for Today’ devotional (published by Vision Christian Media) September 9th, 2024, brings more understanding. “Philippians 4:13 (NKJV) ‘I can do all things through Him who strengthens me’.  Learn from the light bulb; it cannot illuminate itself. But when it’s connected to an electrical power source, all that’s required is to flip a switch.”]
