“But I would feed you with the finest wheat.
I would satisfy you with wild honey from the rock.” Psalm 81:16 (NLT)
This scripture is a clear, creative and very descriptive picture of God’s goodness in the hardest of places: places we wouldn’t expect to find God’s generous provision. It’s in these difficult places that we need to search out the kindness and faithfulness of God.
In the song, “Honey in the Rock” written by Brooke Ligertwood and Brandon Lake, the powerful lyrics show how the promises of God are packed in to each line … purpose, power, healing, giving, providing … what more could we ask?
There’s honey in the rock / Purpose in Your plan
Power in the blood / Healing in Your hands
Started flowing when / You said it is done
Everything You did’s enough
I keep looking / I keep finding
You keep giving / Keep providing
I have all that I need / You are all that I need
I keep praying / You keep moving
I keep praising / You keep proving
I have all that I need / You are all that I need
It blesses the Father heart of God when we sing and/or pray back to Him the promises He has given us in His Word. These promises are woven through the whole song, and we can be confident that they will not return void, as it says in Isaiah …
11 It is the same with my word.
I send it out, and it always produces fruit.
It will accomplish all I want it to,
and it will prosper everywhere I send it.”
Isaiah 55:11 (NLT)
As you listen to this upbeat worship song, you will recognise the passion that drives the lyrics which conclude with … “How sweet it is to trust in you Jesus”.
Can you say that with confidence?
