Choices

ASK THE AUTHOR:

Today, we are featuring our Guest Author, now regular contributor to DOW, Marian Dyer,  to find out a little more about her behind-the-scenes background and interests.

Ed:       When did you first start writing?
Marian: About 30 years ago I began to write what I felt the Lord was saying. I initially asked the Lord for words to encourage friends and family.

Ed:       Do you remember what sparked this interest?
Marian: I loved the prophetic. Prophetic words encouraged me in my walk, so I really wanted to be able to do that to encourage others.

Ed:       Where do you get your ideas?
Marian: I ask the Lord what He wants to say to me today then I write what I believe He says. A bit like taking dictation. Sometimes a word spoken, a song or something in nature can lead me to ask the Lord what He wants to say about it.

Ed:       What are you passionate about?
Marian: My passion was always for healing. Firstly in the physical as a nurse and then in the spiritual, praying in Healing Rooms ministry. I also was passionate about the Word. Currently I am at a crossroads. My current focus is my family, helping them through difficult situations.

Ed:       What types of books do you enjoy reading?
Marian: I love reading fiction on my holidays: Mysteries, Espionage, WW2 resistance stories, Historical etc.

Ed:       How do you handle tough times?
Marian: Initial reaction probably stress! Then sharing with my husband and friends that I trust, to talk things through. Prayer and tears. Asking for prayer support. Coffee and pastries help!

Ed:       What would you describe as your greatest accomplishment so far?
Marian:  None without God’s amazing grace, guidance and protection.

Staying married; having 3 wonderful children; keeping on keeping on, despite all that is thrown in life.

Ed:       What are your current priorities in this season of your life and why?
Marian: Supporting our adult kids and their families as much as possible in their hard times. Spending time with my husband, family and friends. Trying to declutter (not very successfully) especially all the paper from endless note taking! When I think how quickly the last 20 years has gone, realise time left in the natural is not that long.

Ed:       How has your Christian stance influenced your worldview?
Marian: It influences my political views and my values. The current world view is that morality is subjective and all about self. Mine is that God’s word is truth. Morality comes from what He says. He is the creator and centre of the universe, not me!

DOW would like to thank Marian for her willingness to share a little bit about her life apart from her Bio which you can view on our website: www.dancing-on-water.com.

Every day we are faced with endless choices. God has given us free will … how will you choose? …guided by the Holy Spirit or by your own worldly wisdom? Marian Dyer points us in the direction of how to make Godly decisions. Ed.

Choices are ever before you. Each day is full of opportunities to choose; whether it’s reactions, words to speak, priorities for your day or food and drink choices.

Every choice you make is affected by past choices you have made. When you choose to make Me Lord of your life, then My Holy Spirit becomes a partner in your choices. You can choose to listen to His direction, or you can choose your own way.

You always have free will to choose, but I am constantly available to you by My Spirit, who lives within you, to guide your way, to help you choose.

“The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.” (Romans 8:11 NLT)

My ways are best for you, for your best is always at the top of My agenda. That is the role of a loving father, to act and guide in the direction of your best. And I am the perfect Father.

I know the choices that you will make over your lifetime. Some are good and some are not.

Those choices never change My love for you, nor how I see you.

“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.” (Romans 8:38 NLT)

If you realize that truth, then you will not so quickly berate yourself for wrong choices. Repent, acknowledge the wrong choice, turn to Me and begin again. I always have a way forward.

“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”
(Romans 8:28 NLT)

So, give Me your day, ask Me for help and direction and I will give it. When it seems all is quiet and you have no direction that seems clear, just make a decision and I will be in it. Trust that I am continually with you no matter how you feel.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”  (Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT)
